Wireless flash trigger

The wireless flash trigger with radio has prevailed in most professional photo studios and is now also available for the amateur photographer at affordable prices.

The remote trigger is already available from EUR 40, -, only additional comfort extras drive the price up. The “Elinchrom EL Skyport” Radio Trigger (see photo) allows to set comfortably the flash power of “Elinchrom” studio flashes. The remote control can be separated up to four channels, an extra USB extension allows remote control of the entire flash unit from a PC or laptop. From “Elinchrom” also receiving units for other non-”Elinchrome” flashes are available, but then of course, without the possibility to change the power of the flash units by the “Elinchrom EL Skyport”-remote control.

But even the simple “ONLY triggers” by radio make the shooting much easier and allow rapid relocation of the camera and the flash units. The remote control of flash power turns out to be an invaluable aid at high positioned flash heads and for ceiling mounted flashes it is almost indispensable. The only drawback: The radio-trigger needs charged batteries, which of course always be empty for most inopportune time. Therefore an additional battery pack is recommended.

If you are planning to take photographs with flash in new, unknown locations, you still should not forget extra flash cables. So it happened to me in a shop because of probably industrial radio interferences there, a remote triggering of flash units was not possible. I still had to take the “old way with a sync wire”.
